I thought it was just me. I'm not a hugger - never really have been. It's not that I'm "germophobic" per se, althought I tell people that because it's what they understand. It's more about the discomfort in touching (and sometimes smelling) others, especially people that I really don't know. Strangers that insisted on touching my protruding belly during both of my pregnancies drove me insane (as did the question, "How are you feeling?" but that's a story for a different day.) I hug because, socially, it's what people do. But I would much prefer a handshake or, quite frankly, no touching at all.
